A native, fast-growing climbing vine with dense, insect-, disease-, and deer-resistant foliage, it produces prolific clusters of tubular orange-red flowers from late spring through summer that attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. In fall, bright red berries draw finches and other wildlife. Easy to train on a trellis or pergola, it can also be used as a mounded feature in a woodland garden.
