Royal Gem™ is a unique flowering crabapple that was discovered and developed by Dr. Paul R. Fridlund, at the University of Washington, Prosser. This genetic dwarf has drawn comparisons to Coralburst® (Malus ‘Coral’) with its compact, densely rounded form. New leaves are crimson-red, maturing to dark green with yellow fall color. Blooming in spring, this small tree is covered in single, rose-red flowers that are followed by dark red fruits. Outstanding when used in containers, near patios, and in small spaces.
