Moraine Sweetgum | Liquidambar styraciflua 'Moraine'
image

Plant description

A tremendously uniform and upright tree with a broad oval shape. The palmate glossy dark green leaves turn brilliant shades of burgundy-red, orange, and yellow in the fall. Moraine is considered the most cold hardy variety of Sweetgum. An overall course texture, even the young branches are covered in bark with corky fissures. Prefers fertile, moist soil. A good choice for a fast-growing large tree for parks, campuses, or residential properties. Best planted at least 10 feet away from hardscapes where fruit drop can be a nuisance. A Siebenthaler Nursery introduction.
